No Code Showing? Check the Display, Keypad and Menu
Not every fault announces itself with an F-code. Display and menu problems are one of the more common things we get called out for that arrive without one - and they are also the group most likely to be fixable without a technician. Worth ruling these out before you book a call:
- Oven sitting in demo mode - it will light up and go through the motions without actually cooking. That is a setting, not a fault.
- Menu items missing - usually a menu that needs reloading after a settings change or a swap between units.
- Keypad not registering presses - check for cleaning fluid or grease ingress around the panel first.
- Blank or frozen display - confirm the breaker, and on a three-phase install confirm all legs. A unit running on two of three behaves erratically rather than simply staying dark.
If the mode and menu are right and it still will not take input, it needs a visit.
Can I Keep Using the Oven Until You Get Here?
Whether to pull the oven out of service or nurse it through to the visit. The short version:
- Stop now - smoke, burning smell, arcing, or repeated breaker trips. See the box at the top of this page.
- Stop now - grinding from the oven, or a door that has to be forced to latch. Never tape, wedge or hold a door interlock to keep a unit in service; when the oven refuses to run or stops a cycle, the interlock is working, not failing.
- Call promptly, keep using it carefully - a new rattle or whine, or noticeably less air moving through the cavity. An oven moving less air works harder for the same result, and that tends to resurface later as F1 or F8. Catching it at this stage is easier than after it has tripped a code.
- Call promptly - an oven overshooting its set point and not cooling back down.
- Usually fine to keep running - cook times creeping, or uneven results slot to slot, provided food is still reaching safe temperature. Check the profile, loading, cavity cleanliness and product starting temperature first; those are free and they resolve a real share of it.
